Speech by Mr Morley.

Mr Morley, in a' speech at Walthamstow criticising the attitude of. the Government on the fiscal question, suggested that Mr Balfour \yould be acceptable as next Archbishop of L'aodicea if the church still existed, "With regard to the unemployed question Mr Morlev confessed that he had no remedy. Ike generous impulses of the heart must be guided by the firm statesmanship of head. He deprecated experiments like the disastrous national workshops of Pans ia 1848, dislocating industry _ and deteriorating character. He eulogised the generous efforts now conspicuous from the King and Queen to the costermongers, and the energies of statesmen, P'irlianient and churches to mitigate the lot of the great masses
who were always very near hunger and nakedness.
