The Hamburg-American line, the leading Hamburg combine, is engaged in a fierce struggle with the North German liloyds and Bremen lines. Both sides are forming new lines while the Hamburg combine is floating a syndicate shipping company offering a" free transfer of vessels for the purpose of fighting competitors.
