Athletic Contests.

SYDNEY, November 13

The weather was cool with a strong breeze blowing for the second day of the Athletic Championship Meeting. There was again only a small attendance. Results :—

Three mile Walk—Pomeroy (Sydney) 1, Boss (N.Z.) 2. The race resolved itpelf into a contest between Koss and Pomeroy, the other competitors being hopelessly in the rear before half the distance had gone. Ross led, with Pomeroy close up, until the last lap was entered, when Pomeroy passed Ross and drawing away, won comfortably by seven yards. Time, 22min 22 25sec" (a record for New South Wales).

Pole Jump : Adams (N.S.W.), 9ft 4in 1; Molloy (Queensland), 9ft 2. 880 yds: "W". Heatley (Victoria) 1, Burrows (Victoria) 2, Fitzhardinge (N.S.W.) 3. Time, lmin 57 3-5 sec. Burk was scratched.

220 yds: Barker (N.S.W.) 1, Castley (Tasmania) 2, French (N.S.W.) 3. Time, 22 1-5 sec.

Three Miles Flat: Steel (Victoria) 1Burrows (Victorial 2, Ferguson (Vie, tona) 3. Time, lominSOsec. Burkclid not starfc.

Running Broad Jump—Barker (New South Wales) 21ft Sin J, Dul^an (Victoria) 20ft 5 1 in 2. °

Throwing the Hammer—O'Bielly (N.S.W.) 185 ft Sin.

440 Yards Hurdles - Brown (Victoria) 1, Stewart (N.S.W.) 2, Barker (N.S.W.) 3. Won by ten .yards in 61 l-ssec. Owing to an accident to Fruwley, the High Jump was .divided between New South .Wales and Queensland. ' New South Wales won ihe Championship with 10£ points, Victoria being next with 4 points, Queensland half point, New Zealend and Tasmania nil.
