The Hugardes.
To-morrow night the Hugavdes. described as magical sketch artists, comedians, and illusion pantomimists, will make their first appearance before a Palmerston audience. Amongst some of the most notable features of the Hugardes' entertainmentl is the one entitled "Invulnerability." A contemporary, speaking of this feat, says : — Three volunteers, armed with regulation rifles, proceeded to the centre of the stalls and fired point blank at a small piece of cloth, with a red heart for a bull's-eye, which Jean Hugarde held before him. Hardly had the reports of the rifles reached the ears of those present than three bullets fell from the cloth held by the "Invulnerable " one on to a plate, with penetrating clinks. The management, by the way, undertake to use any rifle and any bullet that-then- patrons'care to bring along. Besides the above, the Hugardes will be supported by a very strong concert and musical company.
