Purcell—Hurley

St. Patrick's Church held a large number of interested' spectators this morning on the occasion of the marriage of Mr Charles Thomas Purcell, second son of Mr and Mrs J. M. Purcell,! of Eongo tea, to Miss Margaret Hurley, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Hurley, well-known and respected residents of Pa'lmerston JS Torth.~ The ceremony was fittingly conducted by Fathers Tymons and Bowden, and the whole^ service was appropriate to the occasion. The bride, who was given away by her father, was becomingly attired -in a white silk dress trimmed with white chiffon overlace and accordeon pleated chiffon. She also wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a pretty shower bouquet, the gift of Mrs Mayo. She was attended by her two sisters, Misses Annie and Ellen Hurley, who wore dresses of cream voile trimmed with ribbon and lace and chiffon hats to match, and also by two sisters of the bridegroom, Misses Mary and Maggie Purcoll, wearing costumes of white silk trimmed with insertion, and black velvet hats The bridegroom was attended by Mr Charles Lound in the capacity of best man. He presented the bride with a gold muff chain and the bridesmaids with gold brooches, while the bride's present to the bridegroom was a heart pendant studded with diamonds and pearls. Mrs Hurley was costumed in black ribbed silk with black overlace and trimmed with! rouched ribbon, while Mrs Purcell j wore black silk voile, with hat to match. The wedding breakfast was served in Zealandia Hall, and the guests to the number of fully 300 adjourned thither after the ceremony, the usual toasts being honored. The presents received by the happy couple were numerous and valuable and included several cheques for substantial amounts.
