Accidents and Fatalities.
(Per Press Association.) ASHBUETON. August 24. Stanley Williams, aged 15, died under chloroform while undergoing an operation for appendicitis at. the Hospital this afternoon.' Two doctors were in attendance.
GISBORNE, August 23. A man named James Allen, aged 59, picked up on tbe road at Gisborne on Tuesday evening, is supposed to have fallen from his trap He was suffering from concussion of the brain, and his condition is critical. It is not known how the accident happened.
DUNEDIN, August 23. The police are closely investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Ham Sing Fong, who was found dead in a hut at Tapanui, Dun.din, on.Tuesday, by Ah Chong, another Chinaman. The body was badly burned, the underclothing being almost burned off. There was a bruise on the forehead, several cuts on the face, and a pol of blood about the bed. The floor was strewn with fragments of bottle, and there were fragments of bottle on the shelf near the bed. The burns were evidently caused by the explosion of the lamp found on the bed.
