«m 1 . NEW PLYMOUTH, August 23. The Auckland-Taranaki match was played here to-day in fine weather on a good ground. Auckland had the hesTof the game, mainly through their forwards. The game was not a good exposition of Eughy. Wynyard scored. for Auckland in the first half, and Hargreaves for New Plymouth in the second. He converted his own try." Near the end of the game McGee scored Auckland's second try, the game ending Auckland six, Taranaki five.
Hammerton, of Patea, sustained a slight concussion of .the brain during the first spell and was taken to the hospital.
