Canterbury v. Southland.
INVERCARGILL, August 24. The Canterbury v. Southland football match was played to-day in fine weather. Snow fell in the early morning but had dissappeared from the field of play which was in good order, there having been no rain for weeks. Within a few minutes from the start Canterbury got a goal from a mark which was the only score made. The teams were evenly - matched and the game was very interesting. Burns marked thrice in the first five minutes within range of the Southland goal, Fraser being successful with the kick on the third occasion.
