NAPIER, August 21. The New Zealand Ladies' Golf Championship meeting was commenced on the Napier Club's Links to-day. Eesults of the first round are : Miss James (Wellington) beat Mrs Elgar (Wairarapa), 9 up and 8 to pl-iy; Mrs C. H. Cato (Napier) beat Mrs Tweed (Wellington), 3 up and 2 to play ; Mrs Saunders (Featherston) beat Miss Cotter (Auckland), 6 up and 5 to play. Second round Mrs Bidwell beat Miss Balfour, Mrs Blomfisld beat Miss Campbell, Mrs Torrence beat Miss Perry, Miss James b^at Mrs C. H, Cato, Mrs Saunders beat Miss Beatson, Miss Symes beat Miss Buckland, Miss Brandon beat Mrs K. Tareha, Miss Eutledge beat Miss Jackson, Miss Stevenson beat Miss E. C. Pearce, Miss W. L Cotter beat Mrs G. P. Donnelly, Miss Scott beat Miss Hannay, Miss N. Eutledge beat Miss Bennett, Miss Newlings beat Miss Gorrie. Miss Lewis beat Mrs Johnstone, Miss Wilson beat Miss Bidwell, Miss Brandon beat Miss Harcourt.
