- AUCKLAND, April 2. The athletic sports, at wlrch A. E Shrubb (England) and A F. Duffey (America) formed the principal attractions, were hell on the Domain ground to-day. in the presence of about 5000 spectators, bhrubb won both the Onemile and Threp-mile Handicaps from scratch. His time for the mile was 4miu 22sec, an Australian record, and equal io his best performance. He won the three miles in 14min f>7-ec. which is eight seconds behind W. F. Simpson's AuMralasian record.
Duffey's best performance was in his heat in the 75j ds International Handicap, won in 7 2 ssec, a world's record for the distance. Hd also confirmed Ins ►outhern performances over 50yds by finishing within a yard of the winner, who breasted the tape in 5 1-osec.
G A. Whea*ley- the Victorian crack, won tbe half mile easily in lmin 59sec.
