A pekey named James McGuire, while riding at the Akaroa Racing Club's annual meeting held at Plumpton Park ytsterday, fell.from his horse, which rolhd oyer him McGuire sustained a severe concussion .of the brain and also a fracture' ef the coll«r bone, and is in a serious condition At 5 o'clock this afternoon McGuire was still unconscious, and is in a critical coadition. Ahoy, James_Madden, fell from a tree in Hagley Park this a'ternoon and sustained concussion of ih« brain. He was picked up unconscious by a passerby aud taken to the hospital. A young man, Otto Yen Vagan, a resident of Lincoln, took some liniment in mistake for medicine This morning he was brought to Christchurch hospital suffering from poisoning. He is expectrd to recover.
