Mr Balfour informed Mr Churchill that he did not intend to take any action regarding Mr Walton's resolution.
Replying to Sir H. Campbell-Banner-man's jeering question if he was still leader of the House, Mr Balfour challenged a vote of censure if the Opposition had any doubt on the point. .
The Daily Mail complains that the future prospects of the party are being sacrificed to keep the Cabinet in: office and urges that it would be wiser to face the issue fearlessly. Lord Reay, at a National Liberal Club dinner, declared that a Liberal Government would not find it difficult to establish cordial relations with Russia.
Lord Hugh Cecil, speaking at Greenwich, asserted resolutely that he was certain his father had opposed to the end of his life Mr Chamberlain's taxation of food proposals.
Osmond Williams moved a resolution in the House of Commons declaring that ChamberlainiEm was the cause of grave injury to the shipping. The motion was carried without division, the Unionists abstaining from voting-
