"Wellington, May 19. Mr F. Pirani interviewed the Education Department yesterday on several matters of interest to the distriot. With regard to the High School he pointed out that there would be no funds to pay tho salaries out of for the first three months unless the members individuallj guaranteed a bank overdraft or the Government mada an advance on the capitation already earned. Mr Pirani also discussed the question of conveyance of children from Glon Orona to the Rongotea school and from Raumai to tho Pohangina school, and urged that the idea was objectionable from many points of view, giving reasons in support of that idea. Prom the reply received it is almost certain an advance will be made to the High School Board and that tha Glen Oroua children's conveyance will not be insisted on, but that the school will bs allowed to remain as at present.
Mr Montgomery will preside at the first,pjeeting-o'f tbe Palmerston High School Board of Governors, to elect a chairman, at noon, on' __for_day next.
