Winter Show.

Interest generally in th*e forthcoming Winter Show, though not very apparent locally, is growing rapidly among intending exhibitors, particularly so in the butter and cheese sections, entries in which are coining in freely. Up to the present entries in the butter classes have been received from factories in Taranaki, Wairarapa and Canterbury, and in cheese from Otago factories.

Even at this comparatively early date it is plainly apparent the machinery section will be one of the features of the show, and the interested public will have no cause for complaint as to the variety and extent of this department, particularly as regards plants working, which will include two of the latest refrigerators with condensing plants all complete. To many they alone will afford continual interest and enlightenment.

Enquiries are also being made in the root, fruit, and crop departments, and it is to be hoped farmers horticulturalists, and agriculturalists will freely respond to the efforts of the Association, and by their practical support make this department the thorough success it deserves and should be. Fruitgrowers and others will, doubtless, not lose sight of the fact that this year the annual show of the Fruitgrowers Association will not be held.

Ample evidence Is forthcoming that considerable interest is being taken in tho competitions and industrial sections allotted to the public, technical, and other schools. Already five schools have intimated they will be certain competitors, and many others arc also preparing. Local scholars will have need to look to their laurels.

Those interested in the poultry sections are not losing sight of the fact that tho show offers them exceptional facilities for exhibiting their birds beforo the large and representative attendance sure to be present at the show, not onb*-' •fanciers, but of tho whole dairying- and farming community. An opportunity will thus be ottered of disposing birds that will enhance their reputations as breeders and fanciers, up to the present numerous letters have been received by the secretary mtmiating the intention of severed well-known outside exhibitors to be present while application for prize lists arc innumerable.
