Obituary.
MR T. R. MARTIN.
We regret to announce the death of Mr T. 11. Martin, of Palmerston iS'orth, the sad event occurring last night after a comparatively short illness. The deceased, who bad {attained the age of 63 vcars. came to the colony in the ship Edwin Fox, in 187-1, the late Mr W. P. Kendall being a passenger in the same vo3sel. On his arrival Mr Mnttin was employed in Messrs Luko a-.id Son's engineering shop and subsequently by Messrs Cable and Co. He then joined the Petone railway workshops, and remained there till sixteen years ago, when he came to Palmerston and commenced business on his own acconnt. During the period ho has been here he has practically had charge of the majority of gas and other engines working in the town, and possessed a full and complete knowledge of his work in which he was assisted by his son, Mr A Martin, by whom the business will be carried on. The deceased, who was of a somewhat retiring disposition, was greatly esteemed by all who Icnew him, and his death will be deplored by a large eirclo of fi-iend3 Ho leaves a widow and four sons, Thomas, Archie, Herbert and Arthur to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place at half-past two to-morrow afternoon.
