EX-CONVICT'S PLAINT.

An elderly, legless man, who said he was an ex-convict, made a singular application to the Coventry magistrates. He had served twenty years in prison, he sa\d, and had been tortured for fourteen and a half years. He lost his legs Owing to the neglect of an officer, and he asked the magistrates to help him. He considered it was time that the " barbarous tortures" carried on in convict priiduswere stopped. The magistrates said they could not help him.
