COLONIALS V. BOERS.

Capetown, February 17. The Boer casualties in the engagement with the colonials on Monday were heavy.

The Australians were greatly outnumbered, but displayed great coolness and bravery, covering the infantry retreat.

Two companies of the Wiltshire Regiment, who were engaged in outpost duty, were intercepted. Two of the Victorian Mounted Rifles were wounded — Private Burrows severely and Private Gifford slightly. Both were taken prisoners and have been sent to Pretoria.
