The other candidate for the omce was Earl Morley, who was-proposed by Lord Granville. The Marquis of Hartington moved the rejection of the Home Rule Bill in the House of Commons last nigW. The speaker proposed to meet the Irish difficulty by a gradual extension of the principles of local self-government.
