Fatal Accident at Oakura.
YOUNG LADY THROWN FROM ; HER HORSE 1 AND KILLED. !
, , [PateaMaiL] : News was received m New Plymouth on Saturday of, a sad; accident, which happened at Oakura on Friday after nopn, to a young lady named Miss Mary Jane Cash, daughter of Mr Cash, who purchased Mr Caverhill's farm at Timaru. It appears the young lady was on her way to Oakura, where a ball was to be held m the evening and as she neared the Oakura school-house her horse bolted ; she fell backward, and her foot being caught m the stirrup she was dragged along the road, the horse bolting at a terrific speed. Its course could not be checked until -it reached the beach, and wag. caught m a : furze bush. When Mr Loveridge, and several other residents at Oakura, reached the spot, they found the young woman was, .just expiring, and her body terribly 'bruifled and 'Wngled. The body was brought to Oakura, and information Of the sad occurrenoe was at once aiapatched to her parents, and also to the police m New Plymouth. The deceased was sixteen years of age, | j
