, , [PateaMaiL] : News was received m New Plymouth on Saturday of, a sad; accident, which happened at Oakura on Friday after nopn, to a young lady named Miss Mary Jane Cash, daughter of Mr Cash, who purchased Mr Caverhill's farm at Timaru. It appears the young lady was on her way to Oakura, where a ball was to be held m the evening and as she neared the Oakura school-house her horse bolted ; she fell backward, and her foot being caught m the stirrup she was dragged along the road, the horse bolting at a terrific speed. Its course could not be checked until -it reached the beach, and wag. caught m a : furze bush. When Mr Loveridge, and several other residents at Oakura, reached the spot, they found the young woman was, .just expiring, and her body terribly 'bruifled and 'Wngled.
