SETTLED AT LAST.
Our readers will be glad to see j th^tthe vexed question of theljunct tion bf>the Gorge Railway is settled ait last£ after years of controversy j antLdepatations innumerable. The terminus is to be at Palmerston, though the surveyed line to Bunnythorpe will be constructed also when traffic warrants such being done. This is one more step towards the attainment of the consummation giving Palmerston its proper position as the most central and important inland town and railway depot m the North Island. We congratulate the district at large upon the concession' obtained, which is due m a great frnfeasure io the tact, watchfulness, energy, and importunity of our Member m Parliament, to whom is due m a particular degree the j gratitude 'and esteem* of this com- j munity for substantial services ren- ! dered m its behalf.
