Mission Services.
[Mar ton Paper.] The first of tl.o sihies of mission services iv St. Steplien'a Churcb, Marton, was held on Saturday evening. A very fair congregation attended, and the services were opened by the reception of the mission preacher by the curate, re*trymen, And choir, who met the missioner at the church doors and conducted, him to the cfiancel, singing a processional hymn. The Rev. Mr Copinger de. livered an eloquent and most impressive opening address, which, with a short prayer and the Litany of the Passion and other hymns, composed the service. On Sunday, a very largo congregation assembled, and the seiv roons preaqhed by Mr (gopingei-, bbth morning and evening, were listened to with rapt attention, as indeed they could hardly fail to be, for the preacher po«esses rare elVxjuenie and power of enlisting the sympathies and appealing 1 to the hearts of liis liearevg. Few who heaid him preach yesterday will willingly refrain from attending .the remainder, oi? the - serviced And 1 to those who hnve not yet attended 1 we would say, go'fcy all means.' No person of either sex woitld hare reason to regret having, even at some amount of inconrenience, been enabled to take part m these impres-' sive services, and of listeninsj to tbe searohing aad persuasive words of this most eloquent preacher.
