OROUA DOWNS SALE.
The second annual sale of Messrs Me Lennan's and F. B. Lark worthy's superfluous stock took place on Friday at Oroua Downs. Prior to the sale an excellent luncheon was provided m the woolshed, to which about 200 persons sat down. The Bheep sold well, though we (Marton paper) were informed by ja competent man that they would hare fetched even higher prices had they been better classed. The same remark applied to the cattle — there were a num. ! ber of inferior animals m the best lots which should have been weeded out and classed together. That something of this was felt by the auctioneer may be imagined from the fact that m the prime lots of fat cattle he intimated that purchasers had the option of throwing out 20 cf the lighter weights. The rams were all of the Lincoln breed, and very fair animals, but there was little demand for them. Some , four or fivo old bulls were sold from 10s 6d to 3 guineas, while the youn^ ones fetched from 4 guineas to 10 guineas. No demand for yearling cattle and weaners. The horses sold very well, and some of them were really good. , SHEEP.
