J nformation to hand from Auckland state*! that Mr Carkeek, one of the parties exploring the route for the main line of railway to Auckland, reached Te A wamutn 1 without being molested m any way by the natives, who were most friendly. He is no w on his way back again, and says he expects to have the route explored before the Assembly meets. •The Herald says it has obtained reliable information to-day that "Mr L?6nkih, accompanied by Mr Rawson, had reached near to the Ahura on Thursday, aud. had found a fair route as far a» they had gone. They expect'd to roach Kihikihi before long. We were informed that Mr Donkin, before taking to the bush on this trip, left a map with a friend at the White Cliits showing his proposed route, thus proving that he was fully aware of the route before he started." :
