In his speech on the occasion, his Excellency offered his congratulations upon the prosperous condition and satisfactory pfogress of the colony. After referring to the postal conference recently held m Sydney, the speech remarked upon the large number of immigrants now leaving Englaed, and announced that it has been decided to appoint our Agent»*General for the colony m London. Parliament will be asked to conour m an address to the Queen praying that effectual measures nay be adopted to prevent the occupation of the Pacific Islands by foreign power h. The revenue accounts show m a very mark* d manner the continuous advance of the colony, justifying the re. mission of customs upon certain ji tlcles of general consumption. .Reference is also ma 1c to the projected railway construction works
