NEW BILLS.
Juries Act Amendment Bill (Mr Tole). — Repeals Sections 52 to 60 (both inclusive of the Juries Act, 1882, thereby abolishing Grand Juries, and repeals, also, Sections 160, 163, 165, ! 166,167 of the same Act ; and m lieu thereof provides that special jurors shall receive fifteen shillings a day, and common jurors shall be paid from eight to twelve shillings a d*y, according to the distance they reside from the Court, These fees are to be paid by the Registrar of the Court, out of the Consolidated Fund. Distress Bill (IVir Holmes.) — This Bill, which is to come into force on the Ist January, 1884, provides that no, distraint for rent can be levied on auK goods or eh ittels, except agisted stoclky^ _it is not the property of the person owing the rent, and agisted stock can only be distrained on for the amount due for agistment. The property of persona owing rent over which a bill of sale is oriven is not to. be exempt fro *q-dis-traint. Personal clothing, &•*., to the value of £10 is to be exempt from disjj traint, and any agreements toenabm. persons to distr ;in on exempted olothing are to ba invalid. ■""'
