Wellington, This Day, After a few additional remarks by Mr Holmes m reference to some statements of Mr Wynn Williams about the West Coast Railway, the House divided on the question that the latter half of Mr Montgomery's first resolution be retained or struck out to give place to an amendment by Mr Moss. The words were struck out by 34 to 23. On the question that Mr Moss'g amendment be inserted another division took place, the amendment bein<- rejected by 38 to 19. Then after some little further discussion Mr Montgomery replied at length and a division took place on the first part of the first resolution, the understanding- being that the second and third be settled by the result. Ayes 24, Noes 34. The reso* lution was then lost. The House rose at 11.27.
