Accident to a Steamer.

Believing nothing to be serious the bar was taken, but oa getting outside the heads a rush of water made its way into the engine room, and rose so quickly that it would soon have put the fires. out. The vessel was pat back and took the bar, pumping and bailing being kept constantly going?. She was grounded inside the heads, when it was found that she had a small hole m her bottom, and an attempt was made to stop it, but without success. She was floated off and steamed alongside the pier, where she was again grounded to undergo repairs*; . The only way the captain can account for the accident is that she mnst have rested on a stone.
