The Patea Detaulter.

William Dale, lately of Patea, has been hear <V of since he lavanted from Patea antf left his bondsmen to suffer the penalties of their bonds being estreated. He had written % letter to his brother, Mr Clarence Dale, dated Sydney, April 20th, the postmark bearing date three days later. He expresses sorrow for his bondsmen, but points out that he could not possibly -have stood the hard labour gang atTaranaki. He hoped m the future to put his bondsmen right though, when he left Waitara he had only £27 m his possession. The letter goes on to say that long before it reached his brother, the writer would be far away from Sydney, and never expected to see New Zealand again. •
