The Government are advertising, by official announcement, under the authority of MrJ. P. Maxwell, General Railway Manager for the North Island, for the supply and delivery of sawn railway sleepen* of native, timber, (the exact number required not being specified m th<*. advertisement) for the Hurunui-Bluff railway. Tenders will be received at the General Manager's Office, Wellington, up to noon of Mon* day, April 2, and must be marked outside, " Tender for sleepers." Specifications and forms, of tender can be obtained at a number of the chief centres of the Colony, as specified m the advertisement, end at Palmerston and Foxton m this district. We shall be surprised if a Manawatu firm of sawmillers is noi the successful tenderer, as they are m a position to supply, a firsts class article, and have all necessary facilities to _ enable them '■ to do so remuneratively.
