Serious RAilway Accident.-A Narrow Escape.
(Napier Telegraph.) We regret to report a serious accident that happened to Mr T. B, Harding, of Hastings-staeefc. Mr Harding was in the act of crossing the railway line in Monroe-street, near the gas company's works, and being very deaf did not hear the up-train to Napier approaching- him. Before he had crossed the line the cowcatcher of the engine caught him in the loin, and threw him clear of the train. Ihe accident was of" course observed, and the train was immediately brought to a standstill. Dr Fau kner, of Hastings, who was a passenger, ran to Mr Harding's assistance, and carried him into a carriage, and from the station he was conveyed to his residence, where he was attended to by Dr Spencer, Though much f-haken, Mr Harding, we are glad to learn, hue sustained no serious injuries.
