THE LAW OF LIBEL.
(to the editor op tub standard.) Sib, — I think, as a rule, the most venomous newspaper writers are the first to talk about prosecutions for libel. It is too much the custom to give a blackguarding, and then threaten the person assailed *iih libel if he retaliates. This is like a man hitting another a bib # behind his back, and then saying, "If you striKe me back I'll summon you." I consider this is anything but manly. I think reviving the old custom of duelling would alter these things. — I am, &c, Outsider.
