A SUGGESTION.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) Sir,— The public generally are more , disgusted and sickened than ever with the bitter and offensive personalities of ' a recent article m the Times, "A Mare's , Nest." Will you allow me to cay that if I were m your place, I would quietly warn him -'again. t persisting m his base, cowardly, and ' ungentlemanly insinuations or attacks upon your family and private home. As an outsider, Sir, and possessing feeiinss for my own family, I would suggest ibis simple plan of protecting your tamily from the insults of this Ch? istian young man — That is, do not attempt to castigate him,, or retaliate m any way through your columns; but I would say, meet him m a public place, and thete give him the cowhiding such an unmanly thing deserves. Thie couise would be simple and most effective. The man who would m public prinfc attack another's wife and family and endeavor, to rain their, good names, because of private spleen against the husband, would be too much a cur -to attempt to protect himself. — J am, &c, ' Observer.
