The Marine Board inquiry into the circumstances attending the wreck of the steamer New England, at Clarence River Heads, on the 27th ult., was concluded to day. The Court found that the vessel was loßt through the negligence of pilot Smith, anJ ordered that his certificate should be cancelled. (Adelaide, Jan. 5. Sir Wm, Jervois left last night for Sydney by the P. and O. Co's Clyde. Several farewell addresses were presented to his Excellency before his departure. Chief Justice Way has assumed the acting Governorship. Melbourne, Jan. 9. Entries for the New-market Handicap to be run at theV.R.C.'s Autum Meeting m March next, are somewhat below the average. The numbers are — 42 horses for the Cup, and 73 for the Handicap. Sydney, Jan. 9. The General Anglican Synod met today, and appointed a committee to confer with regard to the election to the vasant Bishopric of Sydney. The re-election of members of the New Ministry took place to«day. With the exception of Mr *I. Cooeland, all were returned without opposition. The construction of a cofferdam round the steamship Austral, for tho purpose of raising her, is proceeding rapidly.
