(Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 25. The Australia with the December English Mails left San Francisco for Auckland on the 16th inst., three days later than timetable date. The City of New York, with January Colonial mails arrived at San Francisco from Auckland on the 22nd inst., three days early. WESTLAND. YVkstfort, Jan. 25. A man named Patrick Walsh fell through an undecked railway bridge at Waimangora yesterday afternoon, and was picked up dead. It is supposed he had been drinking. The steamer Rawatiro, the first of the colliers expressly built to the order of the YVestport Coal Company, for the trade of this port arrived from Glasgow yesterday morning. CANTERBURY. Curistchurch, Jan. 25. In the Supreme Court this morning the case of Moses v. Norwich Union Insurance Company was resumed, and plaintiff non-suited on a point raised by Mr Harper yesterday, that conditions of policy had not been complied with, inasmuch as a detailed statement of the damaged stock had not been sent in. AUCKLAND. Jan. 25. The evidence for the defence in the Hamilton murder case is concluded with the exception of Miss Annie Neilson, sister of Mr Hamilton, as she is ailing. The court adjourned till to-day to endeavor to get her evidence, which was called by counsel for Mrs Hamilton on her behalf. The public interest in the case is intense ; the gallery of the court is crowded by well dressed women daily.
