Ciiaff—£22 per ton. Potatoes—£B fo £9 per ton. Hams —Sinclair’s, Is. 6d. per lb. Bacon —Sinclair’s and Coey’s, Is. 3|d. per lb. Butter —Colonial, 2s. per lb. ; picked Cork, Is. per lb. Boots, Salt Provisions, and Cheese are far in excess of demand. Timber —Weather and flooring boards, 2Ss. and 30s. per 100 feet super ; scantling, 255. and 275. ditto. Horsefeed of all descriptions is a drug, and as by far the greater proportion of goods now go up country by water, we see no prospect of any improvement until present stocks are greatly diminished. Live Stock Market —During the past week live stock of every description has been scarce. 183 wethers, which had been 28 days on board the Otneo, and were consequently much reduced, sold for 28s. each. Ten line bullocks averaged £2B per head. Mr Caton’s sheep, which were only a fair lot, Sold.|or-595., in consequence of the market being empty. Money and Freeth’s sheep from Nelson (121 head) realised from 545. to 60s. per head. Four head of cattle, brought from Nelson by Mr Atherell, brought the astounding price of £7O per head. The ‘ Times ’ says : They were very heavy weights and unmistakeable good quality, and we may here remark that the trade will always pay liberally for quality, and that quality will always sell irrespective of even a glutted market.” There is very little demand for horses.
