Naseby Borough Council.

Tne monthly meeting on Monday evening was attended by Kis Worship the Mayor (Mr Fiaser), Crs Marslin, Parker and Hore. The minutes were read, and confirmed on the motiori of Crs Marslin and Hore,

The Hawera Borough Council wrote requesting support for a motion urging the Government to classify the Socond Division, and tbe Mackenzie County Council for a motion urging the Gov•rnment t j put a duty on motor tyres. <His Worship stated that tbe G vernment was moving in the former matter, and it v/as considered that the question of a tax on tyres was more of a matter for County Councils). —Received on the motion of Crs Hore and Parker. On tha motion of Crs Marslin and Parker, accounts amounting to £34 9s I lid were passed for payment. Moved by Cr Parker, seconded by Cr Marslin, and carried—That the account of E. Jopson for 8s be passed for pay rcent, the dayman having explained that he had. engaged him to assist in sifting gravel. The Works Committee arranged to inspect the streets recently tarred. Cr Marslin drew attention to a couple of drains in Derwent-street that made their presence tco conspicuous*
