The weather fur the past few Weeks has been very dry and warm, several days the thermometer registering 85 decrees in the shade. -The total rainfall for the month was only 112 joints. Stock l ave gone back in condition, and the number of sheep that have loft the Central these past few weeks has been considerable.

The Farewell and Reception Committee held a public meeting last week for the purpose of reorganising, many of the original members having joined the colours. A strong committee was formed and the following officers were appointed, Mr Bleach, president; Mr Simpson, vice-president; Mr J. Millar, secretary. Mr Jno. Law ana Mr T. Forrester kindly placed their motor cars.at the disposal of the committee for the purpose of making a personal canvas of the postal district of Ranfurly. A ladies' committee waß also formed, to assist the the catering for any farewell or reception. Since the committee started in December, 1915, tLey have collected £7O which has been spent in re:eptions and presentations, and two photographs were presented to the relatives of deceased aoldierß. The credit balance of their fund amounts to a few shillings. The second appeal of the Military Service Board was held here last Thursday, a fair number of the public attended to hear the proceedings. The various cases were disposed of before 6 p.m. and only two cases were diemissed, the appellants being over age. Some appellants were granted extention of lime, others having to go into camp shortly. The Medical Board hold an examinahere on Saturday, March 3rd.
