CRICKET.
RANFURLY V. NASEBY B. [ On Saturday die Naseby B team went to I Ranfurly and there narrowly escaped defeat. The Ranfurly cricketers had the chaiice of | a life time when they had disposed of nine , wickets for 27.leaving the last wicket to put | on 10 runs. Then in the second jnniogs they failed to realise what an opportunity lay before them, and instead of being ready to face the bowlers »9 soon ob on. of their side was out, some had a saunter t» the township. It wus a lost opportunity, lne bowling averages show th t the game was played on a bowler* wicket Ranfurly excelled in fielding. Forrester, M'Lean, 1> Marshall, Bell being well supported by the remaining seven. Naseby missed too many catches, no less than four being missed ott H Browne's bowling -, then the irony of it, when the wicket kcopei caught one, the umpire did not h«ar tlie snick and rightly gave the batsmen the l>enefi>. of the doubt. Messrs Millar and J Forrester kindly kept scores, the umpires were vanoun players. The visitors were entertained at Mrs Harris's dining rooms were a splendid dinner was provided.
