SKIN AND HIDE REPORT, Messrs Dalgety and Co, Ltd., report as follows : RabbitakiDS.—The uaufcl salts were held on Monday, 14th inst., when average catalogues were offered. The «kins now are becoming very much off eeason, and in consequence the average prices obtiiined are much lower, although there is little change in actual values. We quote prices for prime winters, but there are really few offering at present. Quotations. —Prime winter does, 22Jd to 24 ; [i ; second winter does, 20£ dto 22d ; prime winter bucks, 17ftd to 18d ; second winter bucks, 15id to I6'd ; outgoing winter does 15Jd to 16d ; outgoing winter bucks, 13a to 14d ; first winter blacks, 22 1 to 23d ; second winter blacks, 17.1 to lyd ; spring blacks, lid to 12|d ; springs, lld to 12d.

Sheepskins,—On Tuesday last there was a full attendance of buyers and good competition for all clases of skins. Crossbreds were selling ac prices on a par with those of last sale, while prices for halfbreds were if anything in sellers' favour. We quote!— Halfbreds, 9Jd to lOd ; fine crossbred, B£d to 9d ; crossbred, 7Ad to Bid ; merino, 7h t to Bid ; halfbred dead, 7M to merino dead, 6d to 7£il. Hides.—The fortnightly sales were held at our stores today, when we offered a catalogue comprised almost entirely of country hi ies, the greater number of which were of indifferent quality Competition from first to last was keen, and for all well flayed clean hides, both light and heavy weights, values showed an increase of about per lb. Although bidding was free enough for the inferior qualities, yet prices did not show any improvement on last sale's rates. Values for the latter class are f-d to Id per lb lower than for bides that are well taken off and properly cared for. We quote.—Extra stout heavy or, 6£d to 7 7 Sd ; heavy, s|d to 4 7-8 d ; inferior and badly flayed, 3d to 3|d; prime stoui heavy cow 4£d to 4 7-8 ; mec'ium 4id to 4}d light, 4|d to ! 7-8 d : dirty and inferior, 3d to Sjd ; yearhugs, 3jd to 3 7-8 d; stags, 2jd to 3d. ~

Tallow.—There is a keen demand for all descriptions.—Prime mutton tallow, 26s to 30s ; medium, 22s to 2cs bd : mixed, 18s to 31s 6d : best rough fat , 185 to 20b ; medium, 16s to 18s ; inferior, 12s to 16s. Dunedin, 17th October. 190 V.
