METEOROLOGICAL.
Tae rainfall for the month, as recorded at the Central Nursery, Eweburn, was l-36in. Rain fell on 13 days, the maximum on the 20th. The highest reading of the thermometer was 82 degrees on the 29th and the lowest 30 degrees on the night of the 24th. At St. Bathans for the month of December the rainfall was 2*36. Rain fell on 15 days the greatest fall being -36 on the 20th and the lent -01 on the 4th, 16th, and 22nd The mean temperature in the shade at 9.30 a.m. was 64-74 degrees, the highest readings being 74 degrees on 9th, 10th, 11th, and 30th, the lowest 84 degrees on 24th. The rainfall at Kokonga for the month of December was 3 45in. Rain fell on eleven «lays during the month, the heaviest fall bemg lS6in on the 20th. The rainfall at Naseby during December waa 2-2 Sin. Rain fell on 13 days, the heaviest fall being *6Bin on 20tb. The sainfall for the year 1898 was : Total No of inches. days. Naseby ... 17 94 111 Kokonga ... 15 59 127 Eweburn ... j-78 73 St. Bathans ... 31-79 136 Bnt for the heaving plump at Kokonga on the 20th tho fall for the year would have been tho driest on record.
