MINERS' ASSOCIATION.

The monthly meeting of the Mt. Ida Miners' Association was held in the Town HalJ, Nasebv, on 31st January. Present—Messrs. M. Spillard (chairman), W. Blair, J. M'Grath, I. Parfitt, C. Rumble and A. M'G. Brown. A letter was read from Mr Scobie Mackenzie, M.B L.8., re the removal of Constable Willis from Naseby to Oamaru. Mr. Mackenzie's reply was to the effect that he would do what he could to meet the wishes of the miners. —Received.

A considerable discussion ensued in connection with the report circulated in the district, that the Colonial Bank intended to establish a branch at Naseby.

The following motion was proposed by Mr. John-M'G rath, seconded by Mr. C. Rumble, and carried :—" That the secretary write to the proper authorities of the Colonial Bank and ask their intention with regard to establishing a branch at Naseby; and informing them that, in the event of such a course being decided upon, if the bank will give an advance of (say) one shilling per ounce on the present price for gold paid here (£3 15s. per ounce) the miners will give all their support to the Colonial Bank."

The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the.chair.
