DTJXEDIN, Feb. 25! At the fire-brigade demonstration to-day, the heso-nnd-Indder practice for five men was won by the Dunedin team in 31spc, with Sonth Dnnedin 2nd and Napier 3rd. Spit 2nd and ltangiora 3rd. In the ladder event Jiarton was Ist, Napier 2nd and Dnnedin 3rd. The firemen's race was won by Wallace of Gore; and the officers and firemen's race by Williams, Dunedin. These were all the events decided. Four events have yet to be contested, and the competition will be continued to-morrow.

There were some 60 or 70 entries for the baby show, which caused a good deal of excitement among ths mothers.

Tho accident to Mr James sTacnndrew.Sl.H.B., was more serious than was thought, and he died from tho resnltßof it yesterday afternoon.
