(From our Dunedin cori'espondent.) ' STAB'S ' SPECIAL. London, June 4th. The race for the Championship of the Thames took place to day and was won by Higgins—Eliott being nowhere. It is officially stated that the Conference will meet on the 13th, and that Lord Odo Russell, our Ambassador at St. Petersburg, will represent England, along with the Premier and the Marquis of Salisbury. The Emperor of Germany remains quiet and feverish The shots remain, in his wrist, but those in his face have been removed. (Router's Cablegrams to Press Agency.) Singapore, June 6th. Sefton is the winner of the Derby ; Insulaire (winner of the French Derby), second ; Chilperic, third. St. Petersburg. Prince Gortschakoff attends the Conference with Count Schouvaloff. Constantinople, June sth. The Russian military authorities have agreed, and have demanded from the Porte the immediate surrender of Der (?) Varna, Shumla, and Batoum. SPECIAL. Berlin, June 4 h. A semi-panic occurred here. The police took military measures to prevent a Socialistic outbreak. The condition of the Emperor is unchanged. Prince Bismarck has arrived, and will probably convoke Parliament, with a view of conferring the Regency on the Crown Prince. Surrey's second innings closed for eighty runs. The Australians won the game with five wickets to spare. For the Australians Midwinter made 39 and 15 ; C. Bannerman, 1 and 31. For Surrey—Suter, 39 and 15 ; Pooley, 29 and 7. Spoffoith obtained 8 wickets the first innings and Barrett (Surrey), ditto. The New Zealand loan of 3£ millions was subscribed to the extent of nine millions, at par. Higgins, champion of the Thames, has accepted Trickett's ehallange.
