SOWBURN AND HAMILTON RACES AND SPORTS.
The Sowburn and Hamilton Race Meeting was held on the 26th December. The attendance was not so large as usual but the weather was fine, and the run- . ningiin most instances, was very good. The entries were not so numerous as on previous occasions. The Maiden. Plate brought out a field of five horses.' Mr. Wilson's Te Kooti, Mr. Bailey's Monk, pMr. Baird's Maggie, Mr. Roberts' Little and This race was well contested by Te Kooti and the Monk—the former winning by a neck. The Sowburn Cup had a field of four horses, and was easily won by the Monk, with plenty in hand. For the Hamilton Plate, three started—Te Kooti, Circular, and Little r .Twin> --Won in a- canter by Te -Kooti. For the Consolation Stakes three started —Wildhlood coming in a winner.. The Trotting Race was'won by.Roberts''Redwing, thera.b*ing nothing 1 against him-
