RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT NASEBY.— Sept. 30.

Henry Stewart was charged, on the • information of Sergeant M'Nally, with feloniously stealing from the premises of Joseph Gason, carpenter, of Naseby, one tent, value 85s. Mr. Inspector Sincock prosecuted. Tbe pleaded not guilty, Joseph Gasoii,J being sworn, identified the tent as hisl property. lie rceogaised lljc mark* with which he himself had branded it,, it being t.it; only tent so branded by , him. It was last in his possession oil Friday the 24 ud. He missed it at about 8.80 p.m. of that day, when lie closed up, from the nail upon which it I was hanging under the verandah, TTads not sold it to any one. Ann Collegd wife of George Colletf. proprietor the Ancient Briton Hotel, deposed she had bought the tent in from the prisoner, who had been iug in her house, i'or 12s. had stated to her that the tent wrH worth £2, and belonged to a maiM who had aslced him to sell it, iiH order to raise a few shillings to gen away from the place.
