DEFENDANT IN PENDING ACTION. Hastings, November 11. A Taumarunui source of information discloses that the defendant in the pending action connected Avith the Chateau Tongariro incident is E. J. R. Seeker, Te Awanga, near Hastings. OAving to the present unavailability of the chief'witness for the defence, who is a member of the personal staff of the GovernorGeneral, it is likely that an adjournment Avill be applied for when the case is called in the Taumarunui Court on Thursday. The Avitness concerned is Avith Lord Galway on the Government steamer Matai.
