RUNAWAY MOTOR-CYCLE.
SOMERSAULT OVER BANK,
Though blood streamed freely from wounds on his face and hands, Thomas Hartigan, of Stratford, a young man, aged 21 years, miraculously escaped more serious injury when his motor-cycle, out of control, soihesaulted over a bank 20ft. or 30ft. high and pinned him face downward on a barbed wire fence, states the Taranaki Daily News.
Mr. Hamilton was travelling to New Plymouth along Te Arei Road. Near a. corner on the main north highway lie to pass a cyclist, but the camber of the road and the weight of a delivery sidecar attached to the motor-cycle apparently swung the machine off its track.
The cyclist’s head dashed against a fencing post, the force stunning him, and his face and hands Avere torn hv the sharp barbs. He Avas taken to tlie New Plymouth Public Hospital. The motor-cycle was scarcely damaged.
