FOXTON BEACH IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY.
COMMITTEE MEETING. The committee meeting of the Foxton Beach Improvement Society was held In the beach hall during the week-end. Mr M. E. Perreau, President, occupied the chair. Those present were: Messrs F. Short! N. Alsop, N. Ingram, 0. Coles, A. Alsop, G. W. Watchorn, J. L. Merton, and the secretary (Mr A. Maepherson). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Grant and N. Barling. Mr. Perreau reported on the result of the deputation which met the Main Highways Board in Wellington in connection with the tar sealing of the Foxton-Beach Road. Mr Merton was delegated to meet the Manawatu Automobile. Association and endeavour to get them to make "further representations to the Highways Board, and to forward a report at next meeting.
Jt was decided to call tenders for four, eight hundred gallon tanlkis to further augment the water supply for campers during the holiday season. An advertisement in this connection appears elsewhere in this issue.
The Ping Pong Club was granted the use of the Jiall for two nights weeklv at a satisfactory rent
It was reported that certain persons had been dumping rubbish on the sand hills in close proximity to the waterfront and also on the flat, and that offal in the nature of sharks’ heads, etc., had been strewn on the beach front close .to dwellings causing a stench. It was decided to write to , the Harbour Board and have the matter attended to.
It was also derated to approach the Harbour Boanl in reference to the sand track from the flat to the ocean beach and see if something could be done in the way of making a permanent track. The wire which has served for several years was stated to bo now practically useless.
The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
