N.Z. SPORTING AND DRAMATIC REVIEW.
A particularly attractive issue is this week’s production of the N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review with its exclusive array of topical photographs artistically reproduced. The Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting is featured in several pages of interesting snapshots covering spectacular hurdling events and ex.citing finishes. A special appeal will be found in the double centre pages devoted to the Penrose Dogs Home, giving views of the inmates in ideal surroundings and their care by expert attendants. An outstanding feature is the series representing the Wimbledon tennis champions in play at the Stanley Street courts while in Auckland. The Duke of Gloucester is shown at the Caulfield Cup meeting. The Auckland bowling season is depicted in animated photographs at the Epsom green, and among the numerous groups that will have their respective supporters are the following: Grafton Rugby Football Club’s senior team, Grafton Tennis Club’s opening, Salvation Army cadets now being commissioned to New Zealand, (ho Ilutt Senior A team (winners of the Wellington Rugby Union’s championships), new Catholic church at Petone, Manukiau Golf Club, noted golf and tennis stars’ visit to Auckland, and a page of individual portraits of notabilities in the sporting and commercial world. A ■ striking frontispiece of Stanley McKay s Vaudeville Company in Auckland, and a beautiful coloured supplement of a Continental movie star combine to the general attractiveness of the issue. Stage and cinema and social portraits will be found of special feminine interest. The Review is on sale at all leading booksellers.
