HIGHWAYS BOARD ASKS FOR -^FORMATION. In a decision on matters which could with advantage be discussed with the Main Highways Board on the occasion of its visit this month that “hardy annual” —the. Whirokino highway—-was mentioned at last night’s Borough .Council meeting. , • . The Clerk (Mr Wm. Trueman), said that he had recently been in conversation with a Public Works Engineer and that official had mentioned that the Highways Board had been considering the Whirokino question. It already had ample cjata concerning the proposed deviation road around the river bank but had asked the Manawatu County Council to supply., details concerning " the alternative route taking a straight line from the bridge to the high ground. That information had not been supplied by the Council at the time of the conversation but possibly this was due to the Council' being busy with its bitumen work. ‘
